Sign of the Dove Inn and Restaurant is located at 108 Church Street in the small, rural town of Buena Vista in southwest Georgia, about 30 miles east of Fort Benning and Columbus, GA.
The circa 1903 main house with Neoclassical Revival-style architecture is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A wrap around front porch with rocking chairs and ceiling fans evokes the charm and renowned hospitality of the Old South. Inside, hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers, vaulted ceilings with elegant crown molding, a wide carpeted staircase illuminated through exquisite stained glass windows and antique furnishings complement the warmth and grandeur of the home.
The main house hosts an elegant yet “come as you are”, cooked to order, dine in restaurant that boasts amazing prices for the quality of food. You can order a simple and tasty signature breakfast burger or entree salad as well as finer fare like lobster stuffed flounder or a 12 ounce, house cut ribeye. The three dining rooms will accommodate up to 70 individuals via walk in or reservations. To-Go orders are also accepted by calling (229) 314-1682.
The cottage is a cozy, two-story home adjacent to the main house with a large sitting room and full kitchen. The two buildings have a total of seven guest bedrooms (3 in the main house and 4 in the cottage), all with private baths, accommodating up to 17 individuals. Nightly rates range from $60-$85 based on availability. Breakfast is available on a pre-planned basis for inn guests, through the restaurant, for an additional $10/adult or $5/child.
The property is owned by Kevin and Karmen Briggs who's goals are to fill a need and make "city" experiences available and accessible to members in their rural community at a more than reasonable cost.
