Gettin' In The Mood For Christmas is a production that marks the completion of the fall semester and 3-4 months' worth of preparation and hard work from the students of the Performance Academy. I was given the privilege to sit in on a rehearsal of a small portion of the show and I was blown away. The dedication of the kids was evident in how well they took instructions and how eager they were to make sure their piece will be phenomenal. Their excitement was contagious as my own Christmas began to grow. Gettin' In The Mood For Christmas definitely promises to be the best show around! Nestled in the country just 30 or so miles southeast of Columbus is the town of Buena Vista, Ga, home of the Performance Academy. This is a training center for 3rd grade through adulthood in the areas of vocal performance or private instruction. Lynn Moon McAllister is the founder and director. Her goal?
"To identify the talent(s) of each student enrolled in the program and to develop those talents to the absolute fullest. In the process, it is also my mission to instill a love of music which will last a lifetime".
Her devotion to this goal and her enthusiasm with the children was clearly evident as she was dancing and singing along with them! Mrs. Lynn uses a wealth of knowledge and experiences from places like Opryland USA in Nashville, several theatres in Pigeon Forge and even our very own Rise 'N Shine WLTZ to help bring her goals to life with each semester. The Performace Academy is open to talent from all over the Chattahoochee Valley and houses several coaches that have successfully completed several years of study as students themselves.
