This is a season that I am regularly teased about. Why, you ask? Because I absolutely LOVE pumpkin! I love the smell, the taste, the decorations and carving them. Yes, I contribute to the reason that pumpkin spice is listed on almost any menu during this season and as soon as the first one hits the jabs begin. There is a very important thing to remember as we pass from jock-o-lanterns to pumpkin pie: Slow down! Savor every minute and count every blessing. Refuse to allow the department stores and commercials to rush you into the frenzy of purchasing more "things".
I just asked my kids individually if they would rather go on a big vacation or receive Christmas gifts and the consensus was to go on a trip. They chose to have quality family time over gifts! Our time is the most precious gift we can give to anyone, but it has to be given purely and without distraction. Here is a fun list that can help give some ideas. Get the family involved and see if there are a few extra "wild cards" you can come up with. The only rules are to have fun, put the distractions away (cell phone included!) and take your time.
