Greeting from the Raulston Kolony!
This mom is writing to you from Valdosta, Ga determined to make a "mom fail" better. The hubby had to be here for the week teaching a class so I decided for me and the kids to enjoy a stay-cation at the hotel (one of the awesome benefits of homeschooling). In the evening we had planned to go to Wild Adventures and use our season passes. My mom fail was neglecting to check the park schedule before letting kids know the plan. (Actually, I waited till we were over halfway to the hotel 🤦♀️). My oldest was the most disappointed, but the hotel pool kept them pacified. Enter my family to the rescue! Long story short we will be going to the park tomorrow and the holiday is rescued for our Kolony!
The other concern for the weekend is the encroaching storm. Our media does a really great job giving information on prepping for stormy weather for the family. How do you keep the kiddies settled when things get dark? I truly don't remember where I originally heard this or if this is the true name but enter the kid-pack. When you're gathering your supplies grab a small bag for each kiddo. Pack it with a flashlight, lovey or small blanket, plenty of snacks with drinks, and any things that your child will enjoy in the dark. If they love reading or puzzle books be sure to pack a reading light in addition to the flashlight. Then put extra batteries or a battery pack for each and every electronic. Practice all your emergency plans: fire, tornado (have them bring their pillows and blankets to your safe spot), lost child, etc (you never know when lightning could cause a fire or some other craziness happen). Have recent pictures available and something with your child's name and your phone number attached to them. Most of this probably won't be needed, but preparation is the name of the game.
The most important message for the week, whether it's the backyard BBQ or bad weather, is have FUN but be safe!
