6 Great Holidays This Month, Plus 1 Bonus

Celebrate Chattahoochee Valley Style

By Heather Raulston, Editor & Publisher Macaroni Kid Columbus June 6, 2019

I love June, partially because this is my birth month, but also because the kids are free from school and there are always so many things to do!!  Here are a few of my favorite holidays with a few ideas to help celebrate.

June 1 - National Go Barefoot Day - Originated by Soles 4 Souls to bring awareness to the mass numbers of people who have no way to get a good pair of shoes.  I think its absolutely a terrific way to celebrate summer while supporting a great cause.  Check out this website for more information on the holiday and this website for the listing on our Columbus parks.

June 3 - My birthday!! 😁🎂

June 4 - National Cheese Day - So this is also my husband's birthday and that totally explains his love for all things cheese!  I was actually honored to take place in a Colby Cheese Making Class put on by Hammock Haven Farm this past Saturday.  It was a fascinating day full of fun and learning all the ins and outs!  We started out milking the goats and followed the process all the way to the press.  We even got to sample some amazing cheve and cheddar. 😍  Kristin was able to share her love for and knowledge of her animals and the cheeses she produces in such an easy going fashion that we left feeling ready to conquer our own kitchens.  Now to find the time....

June 7 - National Donut Day -  Say no more!  Head to the nearest Dunkin Donut for your FREE donut with the purchase of any beverage.  I'm sure you may be able to find other offers out there, but this is my fave!!

June 14 - National Flag Day - Celebrates the adoption of the United States Flag and honors everything that it stands for, especially unity.  This would be a great day to check out Andersonville National Historic Site, the National Infantry Museum or the National Civil War Naval Museum.

June 16 - Happy Father's Day - We ladies had our day, so now it's time to return the favor.  My personal opinion is that Father's Day should've come before Mom's Day so we could show them what we expect.  Either way we love our guys!

June 21 - Summer Solstice - The first and longest day of summer!  An added bonus is it lands on a Friday this year so be sure to use the extra daylight to your advantage.
