What a Week!

Need your input

I pray this newsletter finds you safe and secure.  So much has happened in our little valley over the past week!  Storms with tornados destroying two of our communities, temperature shifts from freezing to sweltering and back again, a visit from the president and his family, "Momo"...  It has definitely been overwhelming to try and process it all.

Our family happened to see some of the damage first hand when we traveled through Talbotton on Saturday.  It's heartbreaking and humbling to see such destruction and to be reminded just how quickly our entire world can be turned upside down.  On the other hand, it has been amazing to see how quickly our communities have pulled together and offered aid and support.  From arriving almost immediately after the storm to donations pouring in from far and wide we as neighbors have stuck together to show the nation what should happen during such a tragic event.  I'm so proud to be part of such an awesome area!

It has been my experience as a Paramedic in EMS that sometimes it is hard to find out who can and is able to help during an event.  With so many disasters like this happening in such a short period of time I would like to put together a "Resource" Guide.  Please reply to this email if you:

  1. are a part of an organization who would like to be contacted by people who have been affected by an event
  2. know of an organization or group who assisted during this past week or
  3. were helped by a group or organization in the past.

This could mean a food bank, hotel, fire department, church, daycare, etc.; anything that could help to save an ounce of stress from a family in need during a disaster.  I will need the name of the group, organization or business at least and if possible a phone number and point of contact.  This will give me the opportunity to speak with the groups to find out what they are able and willing to help with.

This may even allow me to help prepare places that were unable to assist during this disaster so they can do something in the future!  The more prepared we are as a community the quicker we can help get things back to a semblance of normal. ❤
